Meet Dane Jeffrey

Born Sunday 6th April 2008 at 1:20am. He weighed 3450 grams, which is 7 pounds 9.5 ounces, 51cm long and 36cm head circ. We got to the hospital 11pm Saturday night, and fortunately we got the room with the bath. He was born in the water a couple of hours later. Todd was right behind me the whole time letting me crush his fingers. It all went so smoothly. Such a contrast from Sarah's birth. When he was born the midwife said I had the biggest grin on my face. It was so wonderful to hold him in my arms. So far he has been the cruisiest baby ever. Hardly ever cries (didn't even wimper when he had the heel prick test), happy to just lie on you lap and look around, feeds beautifully (we've even mastered feeding lying down in bed) and is happy to go off to sleep without any jiggling. We're in heaven. Mum flew over from Adelaide yesterday and its so good to have her here to share the joy. Sarah's been great with Dane too - very gentle (most of the time) and loves to talk about what he's doing "Baby sleeping" "Baby sucking" - that's about it. Anyway, I'm in love all over again.

congratulations!!!! - he is absolutely gorgeous - to die for - now i wish you hadn't already been to visit and we could get all excited about getting to kiss and cuddle and schmooze on him.

hello dane - this is your aunt sharry - even tho i am a million miles away i love you - we all love you - you have american cousins which one day you will think is really cool - and one day, when you're bigger we'll get to meet each other and it will be like we've known each other all our lives - trust me on this one! - and i promise not to kiss and cuddle and schmooze on you too much, cause you might be like 10 or 16 or something and you will just think i'm weird.

so glad to hear that everything is going so well - it is always such a relief. we love you all - kiss, cuddle and schmooze on sarah for us - we love and miss her.

gotta finish this comment so i can go back to oggling all the photographs!

You guys have done it again! Another child with extremely high levels of gorgeousness.
How's the chocolates going Kate? Got any left? Ours all went in one night.
Can't wait to see you in the next week. I bet Dane will have grown so much since I last saw him - or at least he won't be so crumpled. Not that he was a very crumpled child to start with.
Have you weaned Sarah yet:)

Congratulations and celebrations. Todd's t-shirt say's is all about Dane - Mr Perfect. I bet sarah will be a little mother to her brother. Thanks for posting pics, I have been checking your site about twice a day. Make sure you get as much rest as you can with mum there to help. loves and kisses to you all.

Whad-de-doo burn his hands upon re-enrty? Either photos are deceptive or you took a photo of a 2 week old and put it in the middle there.
Or I could just jealous. I want to go back to hospital to be served meals in bed and spend all day doteing on a new born.

Congrats Kate. Your description is taking me back to when Adelaide was born - she's 3 months old this week. Can't believe it. He looks beautiful and sounds wonderful. Can't wait to meet him one day.

Oh he is so beautiful! i love that squidgy face. aren't newborns wonderful? there's not enough body to put a diaper on hardly and their clothes look like they will fall right off. Then two weeks later, and they have outgrown them. CONGRATULATIONS! you have a lovely family.

Yay!! I BET you had a huge grin when he was born. Relief and excitement! You know you have a long way until you will have to do that again! He is so so so so gorgeous, I bet he smells delicious (when his diaper is clean). You deserve a really good baby the second time around after Sarah the bossy one! So so so exciting. Great to know this blog will now be filled with photos of your two children! Love it. Love you.

I keep coming back to take another peek! Isn't it amazing that all of us would have probably had to wait weeks or months to hear the news or see photos, but now that we are all online, we can have instant gratification! Yay for that.

I don't think I can wait until Christmas to cuddle and kiss him. If I didn't have to start my new job next week I would have liked to be on the next plane. He is just perfect! Cuddles and kisses to you all XOXO

I know I'm a little late, but I just want to say congrats! he looks so gorgeous. I can't believe how easy his birth went. I'm completely envious! Simone's birth went like a bad train wreck and i'm really hoping the next one will be done without any real medical intervention. i really want to have a midwife instead of a doctor. anyway, you look beautiful! i love you sweet little family!
